COLLECTIVEWORKS, AN ENTERTAINMENT FIRM, INTRODUCES...THE POWER JOURNAL - CHRONICLES OF A REVOLUTIONARY BLACK WOMAN IN WHITE AMERICA Available Tuesday, December 7, 2004 Los Angeles, CA - In a time of political turmoil, one woman completely disregards the fundamentals of being polite and delivers a bold and outspoken diary that represents individuals whose concerns are often ignored. Filled with a multitude of controversial topics, The POWER journal - Chronicles of a Revolutionary Black Woman in White America, captures the literary essence of The Boondocks comic strip, a Michael Moore documentary and Def Poetry Jam; as told through the perspective of a Black woman living in an often color-conscious and shallow society. Waset comments, "My goal in writing The POWER Journal has always been to give the intelligent reader something they can relate to, as well as provide a positive alternative to the 'fa sheezy, my neezy' mentality that the market is constantly bombarded with." The POWER journal - Chronicles of a Revolutionary Black Woman in White America offers something of a cross between a hip-hop album and a fiery political commentary. The author, Waset, is well versed on current trends and she bridges her focus into a parallel that welcomes audiences from varying generations and cultures. The POWER journal covers topics such as the sagas of Whitney Houston, R. Kelly and Michael Jackson, the War on Terror, the state of American politics and rap music, brothas on the down low and much, much more... Waset's educational background, although extremely unconventional, is an intriguing story in itself. She was home-schooled by her father until her second semester sophomore year of high school. She graduated Valedictorian of her high school class and went on to achieve success at the university level. She maintains however, that the education she acquired during her years inside conventional school settings, never even came close to the knowledge that her father instilled in her. When asked where she resides, Waset usually replies, "On planet Earth; obviously some people don't!" Whew, I’m still coming down off the high I experienced in reading “The Power Journal” Chronicles of a Revolutionary Black Woman in White America, which I will further, refer to as the “The Chronic(les)” a Waset Flow. The Chronic(les) has a way of catching those inner feelings, which have ravished our souls daily, yet never exited our mouths. With each passage I found myself turning back to the cover of the book to make sure I was indeed still reading this Waset Flow and not a page out of my own journal. Her words will touch you in such a way that will stop and make you say ummm….. Even on the subject of some of our most beloved “Stars” such as Michael Jackson,R. Kelly, Nelly, Snoop and the rest of the genre which dominate slots on the R & B, Rap, & Pop Charts. Lyrically speaking, Mz. Waset would win any Rap Competition with some of the best Rap artist out today (In which I could count on 1 hand) “ACAPELLA” no synthesized beats necessary flowing off nothing but REALISM, now that’s talent. With no holds barred on the subject of Politics. The Chronic(les) breaks down the true rational behind the Iraq War, mistakes made within our own government system, and the powers that be that controls it all. The Chronic(les) drives it home with a message to our future Kings & Queens to own up to the titles in which our ancestors have set forth and adopt the mentality to Seek a Change to Inadvertently Make One. Mz. Waset is truly a “Star” but you have to be facing in the right direction to see her. In the words of Jay-Z “What More Can I Say”, besides go buy a copy & READ IT!!

The POWER journal – Chronicles of a Revolutionary Black Woman in White America is… POLITICAL On September 11, 2002, many people around the world paused for at least a moment to reflect on the catastrophe that occurred in America on 9-11-01. A great majority of decent, normal, red-blooded human beings will always be appalled at the horrendous murders that happened on that fateful day. Unfortunately, there are evil people out there lurking around on both sides of the matter who seem to agree that more devastation and destruction is necessary in order to extend their sick points of view to the next echelon.Behind curtain #1 we have those individuals who must have read a different Koran (the Islamic holy book) than the other billion or so Muslims who study this religion of peace. The evil ones who gleefully slammed themselves into those buildings, and their masterminds and co-conspirators who still stalk the earth, could not have possibly read in the Koran that killing innocent mothers, fathers, daughters and sons serves any worthwhile purpose. But wait! Behind curtain #2 we have a completely different band of fools who think bombing a whole country (like Afghanistan or Iraq) and killing innocent mothers, fathers, babies and camels, serves as payback and “pay-forward” for Sept. 11 th and whatever comes next. The person who would give the go ahead to drop these bombs must not like camels very much. What kind of mind can justify that it's ok to drop Daisy Cutter bombs on civilian sites and then show the subsequent devastation that occurs to the American public on CNN - like it's a preview commercial for Play Station 3? Got me?So I got to thinking, how should I commemorate 911? What can I do on my part to try and prevent this horrendous evil from ever rearing itself again? Well, I'm broke (writers usually are) so I can't contribute to the Oprah Winfrey or Hillary Rodham Clinton for President Campaigns. I don't have many followers because most Negroes won't listen to anyone who goes against the system or isn't preaching Christianity. So what can I do? Listen, learn and then prepare for the worst? That may be my only option, cause these m-f's are crazy? It staggers my mind to see how many ignorant people there are in America; the so-called civilized society. And please, don't let me zero in on ignorant people of color. How many Jig-a-boo's did you see flying flags and blindly supporting George W. Am-Bush after the towers tumbled? Did these people fail to see the lack of surprise in W's eyes when he was informed that the towers had been hit? Now the towers probably would not have been attacked like that if Bill Clinton or Al Gore had been President. Can't you just picture Clinton 's reaction if the attacks had taken place during his tenure? “President Clinton, a plane has just struck the World Trade Center.” Clinton would have had that look on his face like, Whut tha f*** ? I mean damn, George W. stole the 2000 election like Ali Baba and the 45 thieves (had to add five of the seven Supreme Court members) and now ya'll nigs got his back to go bomb Iraq? How exactly how does this work? Bush steals the election and people hate him, then the first time some bad shit happens then you love him? Now if that's the case, I think I should be able to knock over a Bank of America branch and take them for a few hundred thousand c-notes. Then, if I denounce every Black hero that ever existed, the FBI will forgive my theft and let me keep the money. And then I woke up…EXCERPT FROM: 911 – A State of Emergency

The POWER journal – Chronicles of a Revolutionary Black Woman in White America is… MOTIVATIONAL “Hey Beautiful!” This piece is not meant to put you down; it's meant to uplift you. You are a Black Princess and it is obvious that this ghetto mentality you've tried on just doesn't seem to fit you. I'd like to introduce you to some common sense I think I made it here just in time. If you look deeper into your mirror you'll see it's not your pretty face that makes you fine. The truth is, superficial looks don't always last. Recognize that you are more than curvaceous hips and a voluptuous ass. EXCERPT FROM: “Hey Beautiful”

The POWER journal – Chronicles of a Revolutionary Black Woman in White America is… "FUNNY" Speaking of change, there is one eatery in the Los Angeles area that needs to change immediately. Magic Johnson's TGI Friday's, located in Ladera Heights , CA., has a reputation that unfortunately precedes it. Ever since the place opened for business, the food has been great, but the service has been “turrible.” Nope that wasn't a spelling error, “turrible” is indeed a word and it means worse than terrible. (Please notify Webster's if I'm too busy to get around to it.) Now don't get me wrong, I love Magic Johnson, GAWD knows I do. However, the people he hires to hire the people that work in his TGI Friday's restaurant in Ladera need to be fired.Say you're hungry and you stop by Magic's Friday's. Even if you can get inside the restaurant (security searches you for weapons and interrogates you before you can go into the lobby), you are going to have to wait at least 45 minutes to get a table. As happy as I am to see Magic doing booming business, the wait is too long for the wrong reasons. Here are some reasons why you might have to wait a while to get a table:~The hostess gets laryngitis and can't call out the names on the waiting list.~LAPD and INS do a joint raid through the back door of the restaurant and arrest all the workers.~18 out of 22 employees call in sick on the same day.~There's a fight at the bar over the last glass of Hypnotiq.~One of the waitresses can't figure out a customer's change and all the other employees go over to help count.Ok, so I may have slightly exaggerated those reasons, but come on, the patrons at Friday's could use some better treatment. By patrons I am referring to paying customers and not those who go there to pick up chicks or pricks and never buy food. Yes, I believe that actual patrons should be able to wait inside the building for tables instead of being lined up outside the place like Studio 54. “Oooh pick me to get in, hey, pick me.” Seriously, it can be 40 degrees outside of that doggone restaurant and they've got customers waiting outside behind enemy lines. In Los Angeles , it just ain't safe to be waiting outside, for anything. Meanwhile, whatever you do, don't get in the bar line when you're supposed to be in the food line or vice versa. Security will have you all hemmed up. Now believe me, at that location, security is a must. But, I'm not a Crip or a Blood so I better not get treated like one. The POWER journal – Chronicles of a Revolutionary Black Woman in White America is… "LYRICAL" Somehow I don't think they are ready for me. Golden hoop earrings and bracelets fit for Kemetian royalty. See…there…there's that look that the critics love to look at me… but the critics don't matter to me. I'm dope like Boyz II Men, ABC and BBD. Cause a real superstar can be herself, not someone else's clone at a Mississippi high tea or at the Louisiana Superdome. Harper's thought my look was too bizarre for their photo spread. At least that's what their Editor said. But I subscribed to CODE, Savoy and Honey before Negroes let those go dead. That's why Vogue, Jane, Elle and Cosmo don't get read. Poolside for a dip, go ahead baby, take a sip and taste the essence of my effervescence. You couldn't burst my bubble now even if you took several years worth of lessons. EXCERPT FROM: VIBE my Style
