Malcolm D. Carter, co-founder of the M. Carter Group, has released a new book, $7 An Hour Ain't No Job: The Second Emancipation of the Black Race. Available on www.amazon.com and directly from the M. Carter Group, the book offers insight into the financial past, present and future of Blacks in America.

Carter draws upon over 10 years of experience in the automobile and financial industry to offer a blueprint for building wealth. Citing statistics in an October 2004 report by the Pew Society, Carter states, "In a time when blacks in the United States make more money than anytime before in history, we still are losing grounds in the fight for building wealth."

Carter argues that wealth building is a learned process, and various factors contribute to the financial habits of Blacks. "Many Blacks emulate the financial behavior of their parents," Carter says. "Next we must recognize that until 35 years ago, most blacks had little opportunity to be wealthy, let alone learn how to build wealth. So, what you end up with is black parents that were raised in the sixties, learning about credit and buying power by the seat of their pants, which has led to trouble for many of them, and those same bad habits were copied by their children, who may be having children that are coming of age to begin their own financial practices. A great number of black adults had there first experience with credit when there parents told them not to answer the phone because it was a bill collector. These are the same people who grew up to have to put their utilities in their kids name because their credit was shot. In essence, many of us are in the middle of a generational curse."

In $7 An Hour, Malcolm Carter says one way to began to tackle these issues is to provide financial education from the grass roots level in places like churches, social clubs, and community centers. He even provides in the book practical advice for starting to build or re-build buying power. "With the M. Carter Group, we want to reach as many people as possible to assist in joining them to the resources necessary to change the future of generations," said Carter. The M. Carter Group provides seminars, motivational speaking, and a free virtual newsletter to aid in social, educational, and financial empowerment.
